WHAT IS REMEDIAL MASSAGE? - Lamen definition

As a massage therapist I get asked this question alot.

What is remedial massage/therapy?

If you've ever been into a massage shop or clinic, bypassed or come across it some-where along your travels and pondered...

...allow me give you a lamen explanation of what remedial massage is and what we do as therapists?

Basically, we ASSESS 'Musculoskeletal Disorders' which gives us a WORKING DIAGNOSIS and TREAT!

AGAIN....

MUSCULOSKELETAL ASSESSMENT + WORKING DIAGNOSIS (Treatment plan) = TREATMENT.

Assessment: By the observation from the therapist, health history, palpation skills and assessment of your range of motion (ROM) we are able to determine a working diagnosis.

Treatment: Depending on your specific needs we tailor a treatment plan which allows us to use massage and passive manipulations to treat the area.

ROM reassessed - This could be during your treatment, though usually at the end so be prepared to finish at least 7 mins before end time.

Follow-up treatments if or when necessary - Your therapist may advise a treatment plan over a certain period of time.  This enables us to help you get positive results!!!

*Note: I suggest a minimum remedial booking of at least 90 mins minimum.  You'll be surprised why we say this if your not a first timer.

...No two clients are the same as each client has their own individual treatment plan specified to their needs.

We specialize in muscles, that's our fortay!  We have extra techniques (apart from efflorage massage) to enable us to manipulate skeletal dysfunctions passively when need be.  With our knowledge of the two, we are able to treat the cause and not the symptom and I must say 'one hour' is not enough.

So, if you love looking after your wellbeing....or if you don't, I do insist on getting 'Remedial Massage' on a regular basis.

I swear this should be compulsory from yay high before the onsets start to prevent further injury and unnecessary pain.  Never-the-less if you're reading this far down, maybe I've hit a nerve or possibly even educated you, either way if you know your body is failing you at one point or another....we're all here to help :)
